Dr. Barabas will provide in-home mental health services (AKA -house calls) on a special arrangement basis.
In-Home services can be an appropriate way to provide psychological treatment for disorders that prevent people who are unable to come to an office for traditional psychotherapy. Home-based therapy works well in conjunction with tele-medicine, tele-health, and tele-mental-health to provide effective and low cost treatment. ER visits and hospitalizations are very expensive in comparison to home visits. Home visits can prevent ER visits and hospitalization by dealing with the problems before crisis occurs. In many cases in-home services are only provided for a limited time until the individual can come to the office.

Please be aware that home visits present a more complex set of boundaries, so special arrangements need to be made prior to treatment commencement and a very strict set of ethical and confidentiality limitations need to be discussed and agreed to before beginning therapy. Dr. Barabas will determine home visits on a case by case basis. Health insurance may cover some in-home treatment, however these services are typically not covered. Travel expenses are included in fee arrangements. Fees will vary depending upon the travel distance from Dr. Barabas’ office to your home, the length of session, and services rendered i.e. diagnostic, evaluative, or treatment. Fee arrangements will be contractually agreed to in advance. If you think in-home services may meet your needs please call Dr. Barabas at 570.629.4900 to discuss your situation.
