JoEllen Chadwick relies heavily on her iPhone and Facetime as a means to keep in touch with her eight grandchildren. Not unlike most grandparents, she wishes they spent more time together.
“Some live in Kentucky and the others in England,” she said.
In celebration of Grandparents Day, which falls on Sept. 9, Chadwick has some advice for seniors hoping to foster a better relationship with their younger counterparts. “Don’t interfere, always tell them ‘you’re wonderful,’ whether they are or not, and encourage them to do what they really enjoy doing,” she said in between a game of mahjong with her friends from inside the Friendly Community Center in Mountainhome.
